Some of the students of the early days of Murrin Bridge recall going to school on hot summer days with no shoes, as their parents couldn't afford them, and having to stand on tarred surface during assembly. Their only relief, at times from the hot surface, was to alternate standing on one leg at a time. Others would take water in their mouth to squirt at the feet giving some relief, albeit breifly. And we think we have it tough today, hey kids!
